JCC Hoops — this website, jcchoops.com, and the JCC Hoops app for iPhone and Android — publishes the schedule, scores, standings and stats of the JCC Houston Basketball League.
The short version
There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We don't collect personal information from you. The one thing anyone sends us is a photo of a score sheet, and only the league's scorekeepers do that (see Scorekeepers, below).
What the league publishes
League records: team rosters (players' names), the schedule, game results and each player's statistics. If you play in the league and want your name corrected or removed, contact us using the details below.
What stays on your device
The app remembers the team you pick for its My Team tab. That choice is stored on your phone only and is never sent to us.
Notifications
If you turn on notifications in the app, they're delivered through Apple Push Notification service on iPhone and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. Those services give your device a token so they can deliver messages, and the app signs up for topics — your team's games, for example — not for you personally. We don't receive or keep tokens or anything else about you. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's settings.
Scorekeepers
The league's scorekeepers send each game's result from a photo of its paper score sheet, on the Scorekeeper page, with a code the league gives them. The camera is used only when a scorekeeper chooses to take that photo. The photo is sent to Claude, an AI service from Anthropic, to read the marks on the sheet; the scorekeeper confirms anything it isn't sure of, and the result is published on the site (or, if the marks don't add up to the final score, once the league has checked it). We keep the photo and its reading for up to 180 days so a result can be checked, and then they're deleted; the league's own records note which scorekeeper sent each result. Nobody else's photos are collected.
Game film
Some games have video hosted on YouTube or Google Drive. Nothing loads from those services until you press play; once you do, their own privacy policies apply.
Hosting and fonts
The site is served by Cloudflare, and its typeface is loaded from Google Fonts. Like any web server, both receive standard technical information such as your IP address in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We don't use it to identify anyone.
Children
The league is for adults, and this site and app aren't directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
